This position is under Nursing, Acute Care (SHBS). The telemetry technician's functions are to monitor the patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) waveforms in a centralized station and notify the appropriate clinical staff as directed. The telemetry technician reports to the Supervisory Medical Instrument Technician, but must work in collaboration with the Nurse Managers, Nursing Supervisors, Charge Nurse and Staff Nurses. Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: - Operates and monitors ECG equipment to perform specialized examinations and studies involving identifying location of myocardium injury and ischemia - Has knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used to perform telemetry and hardwire ECG, central venous pressure, arterial pressure, and oxygen saturation monitoring - Maintains patient cardiac rhythm tracing record and other accompanying documentation - Edit and select appropriate sample portions of tracings for further interpretation by physician. - Sets alarm parameters established by the provider - Initiates emergency procedures as indicated. - Routinely evaluates the integrity of equipment both prior to placement on patient and during the patients' telemetry monitoring. - Maintains and keeps track of telemetry equipment as patients are discharged and transferred - Evaluates patients for admission and discharge from telemetry in collaboration with nursing staff and the treating medical team - Educates patients and families on telemetry, telemetry equipment, and the need for continuous monitoring - Performs supplemental downtime duties which may include additional patient care tasks - Performs all other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Full Time. Mon-Fri 7:30p-8:00a, 11:30p-8:00a, 11:30a-00:00a, 3:30p-00:00a, alternating weekends and flexibility to meet patient needs. Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
