The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SG VAHS) is recruiting for Registered Nurses to work in the Surgical Intensive Care Service at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: may be authorized for highly qualified candidates Duties include but not limited to: Organizes and provides care delivery in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a manner that promotes continuity and accountability for holistic patient care including progress and improvement. Utilizes expert clinical judgment to deliver care to critically ill patients that require complex hemodynamic management. Skills utilized include but are not limited to: continuous cardiac monitoring and EKG/rhythm strip interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, management of multiple/concurrent vasoactive infusions, assisting with the insertion of invasive lines, management of Swan-Ganz catheters and balloon pumps, continuous and procedural sedation, assistance with bedside procedures (chest tube, SEPS drain, ventriculostomy placement, trach placement, etc), post-surgical recovery and Rapid Response and Code team participant. Advanced knowledge of laboratory values, expected interventions and outcomes. Advanced critical thinking and assessment skills that allow identification of patient changes and timely/appropriate intervention. Demonstrates positive communication skills and behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers. Innovative and self-directed in developing and implementing unit programs/protocols for optimizing patient care and enhanced management of resources. Must be mature, flexible, and capable of adapting to patient, unit and environmental changes that include caring for patients in other critical care units as the need arises. Serves as an advocate for the Veteran and demonstrates non-judgmental and non-discriminatory attitudes and behaviors that are sensitive to Veteran diversity. Functions as a mentor, preceptor, team member and leader, code team responder and charge nurse.
