ChristianaCare's School-Based Health Centers are actively hiring Medical Assistants.

The School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) is a partnership between ChristianaCare, the School Districts, and the Delaware Division of Public Health. The centers provide health care via a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Advanced Practice Clinicians, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health, and Medical Assistants.

This position is grant funded; continuation of this position is contingent upon the grant being renewed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Rooms patients for on-site visits and prepares patients for virtual visits to include taking and recording patient vitals.

• Performs point of care testing, injections, medication administration and EKGs as per practice needs.

• Assist clinician with examinations/procedures

• Prepares exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment

• Completes necessary patient-specific paperwork as per practice needs

• Ensures EMR is up to date with all pertinent test results in preparation for next visit

• Handles patient call backs relaying information per the direction of provider

• Handles prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills based on practice needs

• Schedules tests, procedures, and surgeries as per practice needs.

• Provides documentation assistance for providers during examinations and procedures.

• Perform clerical duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent

• A graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program or

• Hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

• 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant, is preferred.
