Job Description:
Facilitates patient and family education pre-, intra-, and postoperatively within AORN standards. Functions as a Patient Safety Advocate. Demonstrates effective positive communication skills, maintaining confidentiality and conveying patient information effectively with the healthcare team. Collaborates with staff, surgeons, anesthesia services, and ancillary clinical departments to optimize patient care using the nursing process within AORN standards. Demonstrates critical thinking and evidence-based nursing care and practice. Contributes to the day-to-day clinical operations management of assigned specialty, including monitoring surgical workflow. Works with Charge Nurse and Nurse Manager on the Operating Room annual budget and provides input related to the specialty area. Assists Nurse Manager with departmental performance improvement, quality, and safety activities through problem identification, assessment, data gathering, change implementation, and evaluation of outcomes. Monitors employee performance, initiates corrective action, and makes recommendations to Nurse Manager regarding work infractions, performance deficiencies, and conduct violations. Mentors and coaches employees to ensure competency in service-related skills and competencies. Coordinates specialty equipment, oversees orders and distribution, maintains implants, equipment, and supplies, and reviews instrument sets for specialty service. Assumes the role of staff nurse/circulator, responsible for the delivery of safe and effective care for each assigned patient and procedure within AORN standards. Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Must be proficient in the English language. Work Experience: • 2+ surgery experience in multi-disciplined or in an acute care hospital setting [Required] • 5+ cvor (cardiovascular operating room) experience as scrub, circulator or registered nurse first assistant (rnfa) for cvor/vascular service line coordinator position. [Required]
